About Marilyn Jenkins & Law Marketing Zone®

I’ve Been in Digital Marketing Since Before Most Agencies Existed. Here’s What 25 Years Taught Me About Growing Law Firms.

I started building websites and running early SEO campaigns in the late 1990s, when digital marketing was still something most businesses didn’t fully understand and even fewer took seriously. Over the next two decades I worked with hundreds of service-based businesses across multiple industries, helping them grow through paid advertising, search visibility, and digital strategy.

In 2018 I made a decision that changed everything. I stopped spreading my focus across industries and went all in on law firms.

Not because it was the obvious choice. Because it was the right one.

Law firm owners are professionals who take their responsibility to clients seriously. They operate in high-stakes environments where results matter and trust is everything. That’s exactly the kind of client I do my best work with. And after seeing what focused, coordinated digital marketing could do for a legal practice, I never looked back.

Law Marketing Zone® was born from that decision, and everything we’ve built since has been designed around one specific goal. Helping elite B2C law firms win more high-value cases through marketing systems that actually work together.

What the Early Days Looked Like

When we launched in 2018, our focus was Meta advertising for B2C law firms, personal injury, family law, immigration, criminal defense. The results were strong from the start. Law firms were underserving these channels and the opportunity was significant for practices willing to invest in doing it properly.

We grew steadily, refined the approach, built the C.A.S.E. Growth Program around what we were learning, and expanded our service offerings as the digital landscape evolved. Today we run coordinated marketing strategies across SEO, paid search, AI visibility, social media, Google Business Profile, reviews management, Local Services Ads, database reactivation, LinkedIn outreach, and 24/7 bilingual call center intake.

Every service we offer exists because a client needed it and we built the solution.

The Hardest Lesson I’ve Learned

Here’s something most marketing agencies won’t tell you about themselves.

Early in our work with law firms, I had a client who was generating leads consistently. The campaigns were performing well by every metric we tracked. Call volume was up. Cost per lead was competitive. By every external measure, the marketing was working.

The client wasn’t happy.

When I dug into why, the answer wasn’t in the campaigns. It was in the intake process. Leads were coming in and getting lost. Calls were going unanswered. Follow-up was inconsistent. The marketing was doing its job and the leads were disappearing on the other side of the phone.

That conversation, telling a client that their marketing is working but their internal process is losing the cases, is one of the hardest conversations you can have with someone who is paying you to grow their business. But it’s the honest one, and it’s the only one that actually helps them.

That experience is a direct reason why Law Marketing Zone® now offers a 24/7 bilingual call center intake service. We can make the phones ring. We wanted to make sure the calls were answered too.

What I Believe About Legal Marketing

Most agencies focus on lead generation and stop there. Get the phone ringing, report the numbers, collect the retainer.

Here’s what I’ve learned after working with law firms for nearly a decade. Lead generation without firm-wide buy-in is a very expensive way to stay in the same place.

The law firm owners and partners who see the strongest results from marketing are the ones who bring their entire team along. The intake coordinator who answers the phone needs to treat every call like the case that keeps the lights on, because it might be. The associate who handles initial consultations needs to understand that the person sitting across from them found the firm through a marketing investment, and that their experience in that room determines whether the firm earns the next referral.

Marketing can fill a pipeline. It cannot fix a culture problem. The firms that thrive with us understand that distinction before we start working together.

Who We Work Best With

The law firms that get the strongest results from Law Marketing Zone® share a few common characteristics.

They are serious about growth and understand that marketing is a long-term investment, not a 90-day experiment. They have the team capacity to handle increased lead volume when it comes. They are willing to trust a process built on evidence rather than guesswork. And they understand that the marketing agency and the law firm have to work as partners, not as vendor and client.

The firms that aren’t a good fit are the ones looking for the lowest price in the market, expecting overnight results, or haven’t yet built the intake foundation to handle what good marketing produces. We’ll tell you that honestly before we start working together rather than after three months of frustration on both sides.

By the Numbers

Some context on what nearly three decades in digital marketing and eight years exclusively serving law firms looks like in practice.

4 books published on digital marketing for law firms. The 2026 Local SEO Playbook for Law Firms is the most recent, updated annually because the landscape shifts fast enough that a two-year-old playbook is already outdated. Every book was written with the same purpose: not all law firms can outsource their marketing, but every law firm needs to understand what good marketing requires. These books are for the attorneys who want to know what they should be doing even if they’re not ready to have someone do it for them.

180+ podcast episodes recorded of Leadership in Law, a global top 2.5% podcast as of June 2026. The show covers legal marketing strategy, growth systems, and interviews with attorneys and industry experts who are doing things worth paying attention to.

Regular contributor to Great Legal Marketing’s monthly print newsletter and several attorney coaching programs nationally.

Named Top Legal Marketing Agency in Houston, 2025.

The Marketing Zone TV show launched in December 2025 and reaches approximately 1.65 million viewers per episode. Available on local cable channels nationally, NowMedia.tv, and their Roku and iOS apps, with a podcast version at nowmedia.tv.

Why I Write the Books

I write about legal marketing because not every law firm is in a position to outsource their marketing from day one. But every law firm needs to understand what growth actually requires, what channels matter, what the competitive landscape looks like, and what separates the firms that thrive from the ones that plateau.

The books exist to close that knowledge gap. If a firm reads one of my books and decides to handle their marketing in-house, that’s a win. If they read it, realize the scope of what’s required, and decide they need a partner, that’s also a win. Either way, the attorney is making a better-informed decision about one of the most important investments in their practice.

The Client Story That Stays With Me

I won’t use her name, but this is the story I think about when someone asks me why I do this work.

She was a law firm owner who had worked with a previous client of ours and knew what our process looked like. Her current agency wasn’t delivering. She was generating some leads but not enough, the consistency wasn’t there, and she was genuinely worried about whether she could keep the firm going.

She came to us in that position. Not from a place of growth-minded confidence, from a place of real concern about her practice’s future.

In month one of working with Law Marketing Zone®, we delivered 84 leads. She closed 23 new cases.

That one month didn’t just fix a marketing problem. It gave her firm a foundation to build from. She went from worried about keeping the doors open to having the breathing room to invest in her team, her practice, and her future.

That’s what this work is actually about. Not impressions, not click-through rates, not cost per lead. The moment a law firm owner realizes their practice is going to be okay.

What We’ve Built

Law Marketing Zone® is the home of the C.A.S.E. Growth Program, our proprietary four-part framework for building consistent, predictable case volume for elite B2C law firms. Every service we offer sits within that framework and is coordinated with everything else we do for a client.

We work with personal injury, family law, immigration, criminal defense, and estate planning firms nationally. Our clients get a dedicated Client Success Manager, real-time performance visibility through the CaseLoad AMP dashboard, and direct access to strategy conversations with me when the market shifts or a new opportunity emerges.

We’ve been trusted by law firms since 2018. That trust is the thing I’m most proud of.
